Marketing it as a trailer, Disney/Pixar have unveiled a new peek at their next animation, Brave. With a closer look this one is actually a 2-and-a-half minute scene from the folk tale story. It shows our lead character surprise at a bow-and-arrow contest in her town. I’m still not sold on the style they are going for here (it just looks a little plain), but a well-directed slow-motion section at the end was pretty neat. Check it out below via Apple, along with a new poster.

Previously titled The Bear and the Bow, Brave is directed by Mark Andrews (who helmed the Pixar short One Man Band), Brave features Princess Merida (Kelly MacDonald), Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson), The Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and Lord MacIntosh (Craig Ferguson).

Synopsis:

Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).

Brave hits theaters June 22nd, 2012.
