Although it debuted to a rather mixed reaction at last year’s Venice Film Festival, I’m quite eager to get a look at Ariel Vromen‘s The Iceman, if only because Michael Shannon has been absolutely perfect in everything lately, and the role of real-life contract-killer Richard “The Iceman” Kuklinski seems like one he could chew into to chilling effect. The supporting cast’s not too shabby, either, with people like Stephen Dorff, James Franco, Ray Liotta (Killing Them Softly), and Winona Ryder set to support Shannon. I’ve also heard particularly good things about the turn given by Chris Evans in the film.
You may recall that a trailer for The Iceman dropped in late-August of last year, just in time to coincide with the film’s Venice showing. This new one has presumably been cut to reignite the conversation surrounding the film, which will bow on May 3 courtesy of Millennium Films. In the meantime, I’ll likely set aside some time to seek out the film’s source material: Anthony Bruno‘s The Iceman: The True Story of a Cold-Blooded Killer, which you can read more about over at Amazon. Information was apparently taken from a 1992 documentary — titled The Iceman Tapes: Conversations with a Killer — as well.
What do you think of the new trailer? Are you looking forward to The Iceman?
