A comparable next step following his short take on robot love with I’m Here, Spike Jonze‘s Her provides one of the most well-realized relationships on screen this year, between Joaquin Phoenix’s Theodore Twombly and his operating system, voiced by Scarlett Johansson. As I noted in our feature of the films to see this month, it’s no small feat that Jonze makes this believable, but it’s his immaculate production design of the near-future that helps completely sell this world.

We now have a new glimpse at this relationship and world, as Warner Bros. have unveiled our second full-length trailer for the film. Making beautiful use out of Supersymmetry — a track from the film’s composer Arcade Fire, originally conceived solely for this film, where it pops up in the closing credits, but also the closer on their latest album Reflektor — it’s impossible to not have your heartstrings tugged a bit with this look. Also starring Rooney Mara, Amy Adams, Chris Pratt and Olivia Wilde, check out the trailer below, along with a For Your Consideration ad. Make sure to read our NYFF review here and see over 30 new stills from the film here.

Her hits theaters on December 18th and then expands in January.
