With the Evil Dead remake crawling into theaters this weekend (a bloody experience we recommend checking out, if you are up for the task), other studios are getting the rest of the year’s horror movies in front of audiences with new trailers and another has landed today. Following up the creepy teaser, a full-length trailer for James Wan‘s The Conjuring is now online, featuring Donovan‘s Hurdy Gurdy Man, which was used brilliantly in David Fincher‘s Zodiac.

Revealed during a WonderCon panel last weekend, the Insidious director actually shot the film with a PG-13 rating in mind, but the MPAA thought it was simply “too scary” and slapped it with an R-rating. Judging by this unsettling new look, we can easily see why. Seemingly perfecting the jumps scares found in Wan’s last film, with what looks to be a bigger budget, this is shaping up to be the summer’s most promising entry in the genre. Check it out below, along with a new poster, for the film starring Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Joey King, Shanley Caswell, Haley McFarland, Mackenzie Foy, Kyla Deaver and Sterling Jerins.

Synopsis:

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

The Conjuring arrives on July 19th.
