Steven McQueen‘s sophomore effort is without-a-doubt one of the best films of 2011. His Hunger star Michael Fassbender continues his excellent run and should be a major contender in the Best Actor race for this sex addiction drama. One can read our glowing Toronto review here, where we said it delivered “a gut-punch of emotion, sending us down a spiral of chaos, ego and fear.”

The first trailer has arrived and it absolutely nails what I love so much about this film. It gives us a glimpse at the gorgeous visuals and lets us inside Fassbender’s world. We’ll get an official US trailer via Fox Searchlight soon, but for now check out the UK one via the Guardian below for the film also starring Carey Mulligan, James Badge Dale and Nicole Beharie.

Synopsis:

Shame tells the story of Brandon (Fassbender), a single man who is addicted to sex in any form as long as it does not involve love or intimacy. His ordered lifestyle is thrown into chaos with the arrival of his needy sister (Mulligan).

Shame hits limited theaters on December 2nd, 2011.
