Coming off his overlooked Clive Owen drama The Boys Are Back, director Scott Hicks is getting back to more sure-fire box-office territory with an Nicholas Sparks adaptation. With Zac Efron as his muse, The Lucky One also stars Taylor Schilling and Blythe Danner. Instead of having the first footage debut with a trailer, Warner Bros have unveiled a featurette. Hicks’ touch is here with a collection of gorgeous shots and if I’m seeing a Sparks film, I’d want him to direct.

This also seems to be one of the last pure romance films from Efron, who has a few exciting opportunities ahead in an attempt shed some of his Teen Beat image. There is his role in Ramin Bahrani‘s next film as well as Lee DanielsPrecious follow-up, The Paperboy. I’m looking forward to see the actor stretch some of his hidden talent, and if takes one more film like this one, I have no qualms. Check out the featurette below via Yahoo.

Synopsis:

Logan Thibault, a Marine who’s survived three tours of duty in Iraq, attributes his good luck to a photograph he carried of a woman he doesn’t even know. When he returns to the States, he sets out to find her.

The Lucky One hits theaters April 20th, 2012.
