Born on this day in 1920, no other figure has left a more influential and memorable impact on the world of film art than Saul Bass. Most notably working with Alfred Hitchcock, the talented artist designed eye-catching posters and title sequences for a variety of films, including Vertigo, West Side Story, Spartacus, Anatomy of a Murder, North by Northwest, Psycho, Goodfellas and more.

In celebration of this day, Google has delivered a wonderful Doodle video honoring his style. We’ve also dug up a 10-minute documentary titled Saul Bass: Title Champ that highlights his career and features interviews Martin Scorsese and Guillermo del Toro. Both are well worth watching and can be seen below.
