While they are currently deep into production on their 2016-bound Hail, Caesar!, Joel and Ethan Coen will get a break from the editing room for the year’s most prestigious cinema-related event, the 68th Cannes Film Festival. Today the Palme d’Or winners (for Barton Fink) have been announced as the heads of the Jury, making history as the first time two people have taken the honor.
“We look forward to returning to Cannes this year,” Joel and Ethan Coen said in a press release. “We welcome as always the opportunity to watch movies there from all over the world. Cannes is a festival that has been important to us since the very beginning of our career. Presiding over the Jury is a special honour, since we have never heretofore been president of anything. We will issue further proclamations at the appropriate time.”
As for what to expect on the slate this year, we’ve rounded up more than a handful of likely titles for the festival kicking off on May 13th, 2015.
