A new day, a new casting story for Steven Soderbergh‘s male stripper movie Magic Mike. We’ve already got Channing Tatum playing a top stripper Mike Martingano, who brings on Alex Pettyfer‘s character as a protégé. Scripted by Reid Carolin, it is also based on Tatum’s own experiences. Matthew McConaughey plays the strip club owner while, stand-up comedian Gabriel Iglesias is his DJ and True Blood‘s Joe Manganiello and White Collar‘s Matt Bomer are both in stripper roles.

With Riley Keough and Cody Horn signed on, we now have another female coming aboard to balance out all the testosterone. Deadline reports that Olivia Munn has joined the film as Amber, Tatum’s love interest. There aren’t any more details on the former Attack of the Show co-host’s role. Munn has also briefly appeared in Date Night and Iron Man 2, with Babymakers coming up. One can now find her regularly on The Daily Show.

With Soderbergh intent on retiring, this marks one of his very last films with Contagion up next and then Haywire in January. After Magic Mike, we’ve only got Liberace starring Michael Douglas and The Man from U.N.C.L.E., which George Clooney recently dropped out of. As for Munn, her role seems to be bigger than the rest of the females in the film and while I’m not sold on her acting talent, Soderbergh seems to be casting more-so based on looks and she certainly fits the bill.

Expect Magic Mike to hit theaters in 2012.

Are you a fan of Munn? What do you think of this role?
