The hunt for the new Bond girl is reportedly over and it is probably someone you (and I) have never heard of. Twitch reports that French actress Bérénice Marlohe has been cast as the female lead opposite Daniel Craig, who returns as our James Bond in in the Sam Mendes-directed blockbuster.

Marlohe will step into the spotlight recently shared by Olga Kurylenko and Gemma Arterton in Quantum of Solace, and Eva Green in Casino Royale. The actress is currently shooting the French film Un bonheur n’arrive jamais seul with previous Bond girl Sophie Marceau, but this will be by far her biggest exposure yet.

We’ve heard rumors that Olivia Wilde, Naomie Harris and others were circling, but like most Bond films there are room for two (or more) female roles. We learned last month that it was no different here, with one being “beautiful English Agent,” the other a “beautiful Asian woman named ‘Severin.’”

With this casting, they could be switching out English with French and still leaving room for the second part. We’ve also heard Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem, Ben Wishaw and Judi Dench are all involved, but we can expect official updates soon.

Bond 23 will start shooting this fall, and is set for a release on November 9th, 2012.
