Zac Efron is one of the few actors coming out of the Disney arena that actually has some promise. He delivered fun performances in 17 Again and Hairspray and displayed some real acting talent in Me and Orson Welles.
Now he is back with 17 Again director Burr Steers, who was behind the excellent Igby Goes Down, with Charlie St. Cloud. It is written by Craig Pearce (Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet, and Strictly Ballroom) and Lewis Colick (Ladder 49, October Sky) based on the popular novel by Ben Sherwood. The film also stars Amanda Crew, Donal Logue, Charlie Tahan, Kim Basinger and Ray Liotta. The trailer seems a bit too cheesy, but Efron is sure trying his hardest. Check it out below via Apple.
Plot: Based on an acclaimed novel, Charlie St. Cloud is a romantic drama starring Zac Efron as a young man who survives an accident that lets him see the world in a unique way. Charlie St. Cloud hits theaters July 30th, 2010.
