Zac Efron will star in Universal‘s adaptation of the graphic novel Fire. The High School Musical sensation looks to bring life to the graphic novel written by Brian Michael Bendis.
Additionally, Efron and Jason Barett will executive produce, with Neal Moritz and David Engle producing [THR]. No word yet on who will direct the story which is about a college student who becomes a CIA agent in a special project designed for lay people.
Whether Efron will transition to action star or if this is just a brief foray into the genre is yet to be seen. There is little of this style in his repertoire, so it will be interesting to see how he does in this setting.
