Wesley Snipes has had a lot of time on his hands lately, probably due to the fact he’s serving time in prison for tax evasion. But just because he’s behind bars doesn’t mean we all haven’t forgotten about him (apparently), and IGN paid him a visit for an interview. Naturally the Blade series came up in conversation, and here’s what the actor had to say about returning to the role:
Getting asked this question all the time, my response is: ‘Under the right circumstances, with the right team, yes, I’d do another one.’ But don’t get me wrong, I’m not waiting around for the opportunity. I’ve got plenty to do, plus an unraveled character in the works who I think will give Blade a helluva run for his money.
You know what? I actually like this quote. Normally actors would just be political and say that they would obviously return for a sequel, but Snipes is a bit more honest and in more of a “if it happens, cool, but if not, life goes on” kind of mindset. I’m more interested in the new character he hinted at anyway and where that could lead, but given his recent pre-incarceration career, the answer is probably “straight-to-DVD”.
I personally share Snipes’ thoughts on a potential Blade 4; I’m a fan of the franchise, especially the first two films. But if it doesn’t happen, life goes on and something else will get my attention. Expect more from Snipes, including his “unraveled character,” when he is expected to get out of jail in the summer of 2013.
Would you see a fourth Blade?
