Ben Affleck‘s directorial reprise to the lauded Gone Baby Gone opened to relative box office success this weekend. The Town met formidable critical praise, while earning $23.8 million in its opening weekend.
It finished just ahead of teen comedy Easy A, which earned an easy $18.2 million in its first weekend. Devil also debuted in third, pulling in $12.5 million, ahead of the sophomore weekend of Resident Evil: Afterlife.
Animated piece Alpha and Omega debuted in fifth, with a less than impressive $9.2 million.
Elsewhere, Inception actually jumped from tenth to eighth on the list this weekend, adding $2 million more to its $285 million domestic total.
