With a more confident release date of early October and a TIFF premiere set, we’ll be getting Ridley Scott‘s space adventure The Martian soon. Following the first trailer, 20th Century Fox have now released a new video featuring the crew of Ares 3 undergoing psychological testing after being in isolation for a period of ten days. Along with getting to know our ensemble better, there’s also a good amount of humor thrown in with references to Goodfellas and Aquaman.
In a bit of related news, Scott has also confirmed to Total Film (via SciFied) that he’ll continue his sci-fi streak and begin shooting Prometheus 2 in January 2016, which is being developed alongside Neill Blomkamp‘s Alien film. Expected to feature the return of Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace, there’s no confirmed story, but there’s rumors it will feature multiple Davids.
Starring Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Michael Peña, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, Aksel Hennie, Donald Glover, Mackenzie Davis, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, check out the video for The Martian below.
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return. Based on a best-selling novel.
The Martian opens on October 2nd.
