Gosh

Jamie xx has brought on music video and feature film director Romain Gavras (Our Day Will Come) to shoot the single “Gosh,” the opening track off his latest album, “In Colour.” The video features a dystopian-esque recreation of Paris, located in Tianducheng, an almost-entirely uninhabited Chinese city built to mimic the city.

The story follows a man hooked up to a VR machine who travels through the empty streets before encountering a worshipping congregation underneath the recreated Eiffel Tower over the melodic synth tones and droning beat of the song. Gavras demonstrates an extremely strong visual language, with a lush, textured color palette and complex, intriguing blocking and choreography. The combination of aural and visual aesthetics results in an absolutely mesmerizing, hypnotic blend that makes it a must-watch.
