The Social Network, only millions of dollars away from grossing $200 million worldwide, is getting a re-release into theaters on January 7th to compliment the upcoming January 11th DVD release along with the upcoming Oscar push, as the film is sure to garner a considerable amount of Academy noms. The nominations will be announced on January 25th, via Mo’Nique. [Deadline]
No other film has topped as many top 10 lists, critic’s awards or the like, so the push makes sense. It’s also a smart move when considering the recent flux of films and screeners available very recently in December. It’s been a while since The Social Network was in theaters in a big way, so this should remind whoever’s forgotten how strong the film is.
Does The Social Network deserve a re-release/all this awards attention?
