A few weeks ago we reported that Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man 4 was being delayed indefinitely due to an incomplete script, then there was news that it may not be true and the project was moving forward. It looks like the initial report was right as insider Nikke Finke came across this report that was sent to the special effects crew for the fourth Spidey. Check it out below:

“We were just notified that our schedule is pushing. We will NOT be starting as planned. I’m terribly sorry for this news, and I hope this email reaches you in time to find other options. We do not know how long we are pushing, and we will not know until mid-January. By mid-January, we will be told how long the push is, whether it be 2 weeks, 2 months, or something else. The studio has every intention of making the movie, but we no longer have a confirmed start date. Again, I’m terribly sorry, but Sam Raimi has story issues [that] need to be resolved before we are ready to shoot.”

She also reports that Raimi hates most recent draft of the script written by Alvin Sargent, who worked on the previous two films. They are waiting on a new draft which will likely delay the May 11th, 2011 release date. Word is that Sony may push it a few months until Summer, but I can’t see that happening. To make matters worse, Anne Hathaway apparently costs too much money so she is off the project.

With all these problems, I hope they pull it together or we could have another Spider-Man 3 on our hands. And nobody wants that.

What do you think about the delays? Do you even want to see another Spider-Man?
