With The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises dominating the summer there was still one film that managed to completely slip under the radar that packing the same pure entertaining punch. The French actioner Sleepless Night, which I last raved about during Toronto last fall, went quietly on VOD soon after its Tribeca premiere to unfortunately little recognition. While the film deserves to get its due, star Tomer Sisley is finally getting his first Hollywood, but unfortunately not in the same genre.
In a interview with the French publication Var Martin, the actor revealed he’s been cast in the Warner Bros. (the same studio remaking his break-out actioner) comedy We’re The Millers. He has not specified his exact role, but went on to confirm that this does not mean he’s abandoning the French film scene. For this new project, he’ll join Horrible Bosses stars Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston in Dodgeball director Rawson Marshall Thurber‘s comedy of misbehavior.
Millers centers on a marijuana dealer (Sudeikis) who hires people to act as his family, which would allow him to transport 1,000 pounds of pot from Mexico into America. Aniston will play a prostitute going under the guise of his wife; Will Poulter (Narnia) is their “son”; and Emma Roberts is Julia, a runaway given the task of being their faux daughter. Kathryn Hahn, Nick Offerman and Ed Helms make up the rest of the cast.
Expect a 2013 release date for the film beginning production next week.
What do you think of Sisley’s first Hollywood role?
