Drake DoremusLike Crazy is an intensely personal film. Some may relate to its themes of longing and love, while others may find it disconnected and manipulative. This is the story of Jacob (Anton Yelchin) and Anna (Felicity Jones), a couple experiencing the journey of a long-distance relationship. Mostly improvised from a 50-page outline, there are moments of genuine truth and beauty. Yelchin and Jones bring their A-game and convey these feelings to the best of their ability, but the disparate structure weighs this film down.

We are meant to believe this passionate love off a quick montage and a few scenes of rolling around in bed? So much focus is put on the following long distance element and the paired struggles that its foundation remains shaky. While last year’s similarly styled Sundance star Blue Valentine had the perfect balance, Like Crazy seems more interested in the gloom then the bliss. To tell a true love story, you can’t have one without the other. Check out our video reaction below.
