After an impressive fall taking part in two of the season’s best films, Inherent Vice and Wild, as well as producing Gone Girl, Reese Witherspoon is headed back to the broad comedy arena with her next feature, Hot Pursuit. Previously titled Don’t Mess With Texas, the Warner Bros. follows an uptight and by-the-book cop (Witherspoon) who tries to protect the sexy and outgoing widow (Vergara) of a drug boss as they race through Texas, pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen.

The first trailer has now arrived, which sells a potentially enjoyably guilty pleasure. Coming from Anne Fletcher, who was behind the better-than-it-should-have-been The Proposal, there’s a promising batch of supporting players, including John Carroll Lynch, Mike Birbiglia, and Jim Gaffigan. Ahead of a release this summer, check out the trailer below.

Hot Pursuit opens on May 8th.
