An Ender’s Game film is actually coming close? Well, the news of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman getting hired to scribe the adaptation may be the sign of actual movement we’ve been waiting for. How do we know this? Well, thanks to Orci’s awesome twitter feed for breaking the news:
“Ender’s Game! Us(K/O), Oddlot, and Gavin Hood taking his amazing script to the town! Who wants some?”
It’ll be interesting to see how fans react to this news. Orci and Kurtzman aren’t exactly known for delivering brainy sci-fi films, and some fans – well, most – want a little more than “dumb fun” when it comes to Enders Game. And with Gavin Hood at the helm, it’s difficult not to feel a bit doubtful after his studio mangled comedic disaster, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and his failed Oscar-bait film, Rendition.
I for one still haven’t given up on the man, keeping hope he’ll once again show the chops he displayed in Tsotsi. One thing that’s for sure – with Kurtzman and Orci involved – expect something big. Despite the flack they get, they’re capable of scope. Ender’s Game is an epic story, so hopefully they give it a much needed epic treatment.
