Since any New York City cinephile has a nearly suffocating wealth of theatrical options, we figured it’d be best to compile some of the more worthwhile repertory showings into one handy list. Displayed below are a few of the city’s most reliable theaters and links to screenings of their weekend offerings — films you’re not likely to see in a theater again anytime soon, and many of which are, also, on 35mm. If you have a chance to attend any of these, we’re of the mind that it’s time extremely well-spent.

IFC Center

“Wim Wenders: Portraits Along the Road” continues with weekend-long scheduling of The American Friend and Kings of the Road. His exploration of Ozu, Tokyo-Ga, screens alongside the short film “Reverse Angle”; early short films can also be seen on that day. The director’s cut of Until the End of the World plays on Sunday.

Tokyo Story plays before noon.

Aliens, Darkman, and Mad Max show at midnight.

“See It Big! New York in Film” brings some of the best-known NYC chronicles to the big screen. Once Upon a Time In America plays on Friday and Sunday; between those showings are a Scorsese three-peat of Taxi Driver, The King of Comedy, and The Age of Innocence on Saturday. Do the Right Thing plays on Sunday.

Museum of Modern Art

Renoir, Rossellini, Hitchcock, McCarey, and Casablanca play for “Ingrid Bergman: A Centennial Celebration.”

As “Scorsese Screens” comes to an end, The Searchers and Taxi Driver show this Friday and Sunday; Anthony Mann‘s T-Men, Laura, and 2001 show on Saturday.

Pictures from Lang, Nicholas Ray, von Sternberg, Minnelli, and more play as part of “Gloria Grahame: Blonde Ambition.”

Anthology Film Archives

Ray also shows in “Robert Ryan: An Actor’s Actor,” which celebrates the screen legend.

Avant-garde shorts come from “Classics of the ’20s.”

BAMcinématek

“Set It Off: LA Hip-Hop on Film” brings Friday on, of all days, Friday. Boyz n the Hood screens on Saturday, while Set It Off and Menace II Society play this Sunday.

Midnight showings of American Psycho arrive this Friday and Saturday, courtesy of “September: She Made It.” The same series offers Gas Food Lodging and Lost In Translation before noon on Saturday and Sunday.
