If the Oscars gave away an award for the best production company of 2012, it would, without a doubt, go to Megan Ellison‘s Annapurna Pictures. Considered an independent film savior around these parts, she has had a simply jaw-dropping year. Ellison picked up Paul Thomas Anderson‘s The Master after it lost its path over at Universal Pictures, helped to fund John Hillcoat‘s prohibition-set drama Lawless and gave money to Andrew Dominik for his Assassination of Jesse James follow-up Killing Them Softly. She’ll even be reteaming with The Weinstein Company, who will release Wong Kar-wai‘s The Grandmaster stateside, but that’s just the beginning.
She recently hit the awards circuit with Zero Dark Thirty after finishing production on both Bennett Miller’s Moneyball follow-up Foxcatcher and Spike Jonze‘s next project, Her. Then Ellison will be jumping to David O. Russell‘s upcoming Abscam film, while also gearing up for a potential summer shoot on PTA’s Inherent Vice.
But before all that she’ll be having some fun with Harmony Korine‘s Spring Breakers, which will hit screens next month. We’ve got a great new poster straight from the company for that film, along with a stellar sizzle reel celebrating their recent efforts. While it doesn’t feature any new footage, the sheer quality of work below is enough to get us excited for what the future will hold. Check it out below.
Spring Breakers arrives on March 15th, while The Grandmaster, Foxcatcher, Her and David O. Russell‘s next project will land sometime this year.
