Earlier this summer we reported that Matt Damon would direct the script Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses, based off a spec screenplay by Cleaner screenwriter Matthew Aldrich. He will indeed be making his directorial debut in the near future, but it will not be that project, Variety reports.

The untitled drama is actually developed by author Dave Eggers (Where the Wild Things Are) and John Krasinski, who worked together on Away We Go. The Office star co-wrote the film with Damon and duo will both star in the Warner Bros. feature. Good Will Hunting and The Adjustment Bureau‘s Chris Moore will produce the story that follows Damon as “a salesman who arrives in a small town only to have his whole life called into question.”

With his buddy Ben Affleck having a blossoming directing career after Gone Baby Gone, The Town and the currently shooting Argo, it is about time Damon came on board. I think Krasinski and Damon both have similar sensibilities, and I loved the former’s work with Eggers on Away We Go, so this could be a fruitful partnership. With Damon’s Elysium not hitting theaters for another 1.5 years, he could shoot and complete this pet project and it would make nice indie/blockbuster double feature. I’ll certainly be in the theater for it.

What do you think about Damon and Krasinski teaming up for this project?
