Hans Zimmer Will Score Steve McQueen’s ‘Twelve Years a Slave’; New Poster & Spot For ‘Man of Steel’

Written by on May 2, 2013

Earlier this week, as a preview of the Man of Steel score arrived, we reflected on Hans Zimmer‘s busy 2013 schedule, which includes not only Zack Snyder‘s Superman blockbuster, butt The Lone Ranger, as well as the fall dramas Rush and Winter’s Tale. We can now add another to the list, as Film Music Reporter lets us know he’ll be composing the next work from Shame director Steve McQueen, his period drama Twelve Years a Slave.

Based on Solomon Northup‘s 1853 autobiography, the film follows Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who was kidnapped and put in a slave pen, paving the way for a grueling life under numerous owners. The ensemble is stellar, also including Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Giamatti, Paul Dano, Alfre Woodard, Garret Dillahunt, Lupita Nyong’o, Adepero Oduye, Scoot McNairy, Sarah PaulsonMichael K. Williams, Chris Chalk, Dwight Henry, Quvenzhane Wallis and Brad Pitt. While we expect that film to bow on the fall festival circuit, one can hear some of Zimmer’s work below in a new spot for this June’s major blockbuster, as well as the final poster (from Yahoo).

Man of Steel arrives June 14th, while Twelve Years a Slave lands on December 27th.
