Earlier this week we revealed that Denis Villeneuve‘s sci-fi drama, previously going under Story of Your Life but now titled Arrival, would be arriving this November, and now Paramount have set a specific date. Already set for a U.K. release on November 11th, it’ll be arriving on the same day in the United States, the studio revealed today.
Keeping up his long streak of one-word titles, it sounds like a more fitting description of the film. Currently planned for a wide release off the bat, it’ll open on the packed weekend alongside Ang Lee‘s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, Warren Beatty‘s long-awaited Rules Don’t Apply and Universal’s Almost Christmas, as well as the Naomi Watts-led thriller Shut In. Considering it’s five months away though, expect some of those to shift around. In the meantime, see the synopsis below and watch cinematographer Bradford Young discuss shooting the film.
Arrival is a new major motion picture starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forrest Whitaker, directed by Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners and Sicario).
When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team is put together to investigate – including language expert Louise Banks (Amy Adams). Mankind teeters on the verge of global war as everyone scrambles for answers – and to find them, Banks will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
