With her role in the upcoming tsunami drama The Impossible, Naomi Watts is certainly keeping busy. New images of the actress as Lady Diana, Princess of Wales have emerged for the project once called Caught in Flight. Now referred to as simply Diana, Downfall director Oliver Hirschbiegel is helming the project which focuses on the last two years of her life. The film centers on her dedication to social cause and her secretive relationship with renowned heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Kahn, who she often referred to as Mr. Wonderful, and had some day hoped to marry.
Former Lost star Naveen Andrews (The English Patient) will play the role of Dr. Kahn in the project scripted by award-winning playwright Stephen Jeffries (The Libertine) and we also have his first look below. The filmmakers are reportedly keeping a close eye on detail, recreating precise features of Lady Diana’s wardrobe and appearance. In addition to a striking physical resemblance to Diana, Watts has reportedly put a lot of effort and dedication into the role, as he 43-year-old actress followed a strict program studying her body language, mannerisms and accent in order to deliver a believable Diana. Sundance Film Festival 2013 kicks off on January 17th, 2013, while Diana is also expected to land next year.
