With his hard-hitting Raid films making him a formidable name in the action cinema world, Welsh director Gareth Evans‘ next film Apostle has found a distributor and expanded its cast. As we previously reported, The Guest star Dan Stevens is set to lead the film, which follows a man trying to rescue his sister from a religious cult who has her kidnapped on an island.
Now, Deadline reports that Michael Sheen, Bill Millner, Kristine Froseth, Lucy Boynton, have all joined Stevens. It could be assumed Sheen is a member of the cult, as he’s been to known to play a wonderfully devilish villain, but nothing has been confirmed on that front.
Production is set to begin in April, with Netflix set to distribute, presumably sometime next year. Hopefully Netflix chooses to release the film theatrically in addition to its streaming platform, as Evans’ scale and scope are usually a feast worth indulging in on the big screen, so check back for confirmation. In the meantime, below one can watch watch an extensive chat with Evans and Iko Uwais, who we hope finds a spot in Evans’ next film.
