If a film doesn’t have strong editing it can completely fall apart, yet those that excel in the craft rarely get recognized due to the invisible nature of their work. However, each year the American Cinema Editors attempt to highlight the year’s best editing with their ACE Eddie Awards and today we have the nominations for the 63rd iteration.
Splitting up categories into dramatic, comedy or musical, animated and documentary feature, we are also privy to a greater breadth of choices. For the dramatic category, we only have one difference from the Oscar nominations, as Skyfall is recognized in place of Silver Linings Playbook, which ended up in the comedy/musical category. Also included are Moonrise Kingdom, the odd choice of Ted, and my personal favorite pick of Samsara. Check out the rundown below.
