Not much is known about Bridesmaids, the upcoming Judd Apatow produced comedy starring Kristen Wiig. News is starting to com in though as we got word last week it has a release date of May 13th, 2011 and now we know fellow Saturday Night Live player Maya Rudolph will join Wiig (via Production Weekly). The film is about “two women battling to plan their friend’s wedding party.”
Yes, it sounds like a terrible concept that would be found in any number of studio January releases. But don’t throw it away too fast. Apatow’s Freaks & Geeks partner Paul Feig will direct so I’m hoping for something great. I loved Rudolph in Away We Go and her and Wiig will also be seen together in MacGruber this May.
