It looks like Linkin Park‘s new album won’t be their only output this year as their DJ Joseph Hahn, after working on such franchises as Transformers, has helmed his first film. While Mall was shot two summers ago, the band, who contribute to the score, likely seemed it was a good fit to release around the same time as their latest work.

The first trailer has landed today which reveals the story of a group of people who come together after a shooting in a shopping mall. There’s a few interesting visual touches in the preview, and hopefully the screenplay is worthwhile, having been adapted from Eric Bogosian‘s 2001 novel. Starring Vincent D’Onofrio (who also co-wrote), Gina Gershon, Cameron Monaghan, Peter Stormare, and James Frecheville, check out the trailer below, along with a poster from France, where it was released under a different name.

Malcom’s done with his life. Only the noise of Crystal Meth gives him a reason to keep going – everything else it has long regardless. Equipped with a bag full of weapons and self-made bombs, he makes his way to the nearby mall to really stir things up. On his personal war campaign, he not only changes his life radically, but also the fate of other people who are in the wrong place at the same time: a teenager whose favorite pastime is smoking pot in his dreary existence, a housewife, where their best days have been left behind, a greedy businessman whose only desire is to increase his wealth and a depressed pervert.
