“It’s not the end of the world; it’s just high school,” intones the wonderfully jaded heroine at the center of the horror-comedy Detention. This crazy confection is the latest offering from off-the-wall Torque director, Joseph Kahn. It’s John Hughes meets Wes Craven, when the typical teen stereotypes of coming-of-age cinema are confronted with a blonde-haired serial killer in this silly slasher flick.

Co-starring Josh Hutcherson, Dane Cook, Spencer Locke, and Shanley Caswell, Detention is currently playing at SXSW, but has no set theatrical release date.
