Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who will be seen later this year in both Christopher Nolan‘s Inception and Sundance entry Hesher, has reportedly signed on to two new action films: David Koepp‘s Premium Rush and Rian Johnson‘s Looper. This news comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, although Johnson recently posted a tweet in which he said the news is not entirely accurate:
I hope so but we’re still early in the process. Not sure who gave the story to HR, they didn’t even get the log line right.
Johnson‘s film will be set in a future world where time travel has been invented and operatives are sent back to the present time to rid the world of criminals. Gordon-Levitt‘s hypothetical character would be a man who is sent back to kill himself. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a very intriguing premise, and even though I wasn’t the biggest fan of Brick, this project has my attention for its unique storyline alone.
In his other project, Premium Rush, Gordon-Levitt will play a New York bike messenger who begins to be chased by a dirty city cop after he picks up a random envelope at Columbia University. Writer-director Koepp’s recent projects include Secret Window and Ghost Town.
