With Olympus Has Fallen now out of the public consciousness, it’s time for Sony Pictures to showcase their save-the-White House thriller, aptly titled White House Down. Following an underwhelming teaser trailer, we’ve now got the full-length version which sees Channing Tatum as a Secret Service hopefulwho must protect the President (Jamie Foxx) at all costs.
Directed by blockbuster extraordinaire Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, 2012), this new teaser inserts some actual comedy, letting Tatum riff and Foxx secure a rocket launcher to defend his own home. It’s some ridiculous fun that should give us a break from the darker tentpole releases this summer. Check it out below, along with a new poster, for the film also starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Richard Jenkins and James Woods.
Synopsis:
Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country.
White House Down opens on June 28th.
