James Tupper, a Grey’s Anatomy and Revenge regular who was last seen one the big screen in this summer’s Mr. Popper’s Penguins, has joined the ensemble cast of Steve Bernstein‘s Decoding Annie Parker. According to THR, Tupper will play the husband of Parker’s best friend, played by Alice Eve.

The drama is centered around the breast-cancer patient Annie Parker, who believed that the disease was genetically linked which led to the discovery of the breast cancer gene. Parker will be played by In America star Samantha Morton, along side Helen Hunt, Rashida Jones, Maggie Grace, Aaron Paul and Benjamin McKenzie. The project will be produced by Clark Peterson (Monster), Tatiana Kelly and Jim Young.

Known mostly for his role as cinematographer, Parker will be Bernstein‘s feature length directorial debut. Judging by the current cast, directing the actors shouldn’t be a problem since Morton is known for her more dramatic roles in In America and Synecdoche, New York. I haven’t really seen Hunt in a serious role in quite awhile, so this could be a good opportunity for her as well. The film is currently slated for a 2012 release.
