With the White Stripes no longer around, we were looking forward to hearing the tunes of Jack White in Disney and Gore Verbinski‘s upcoming blockbuster The Lone Ranger, after being confirmed for the composer gig earlier this year. However, things got busy, schedules have been adjusted, and it looks there has been a post-production switch-up.
There were rumors earlier this week, but now Disney has sent us over the official message that White, “who had originally been contemplated to score…was logistically unavailable due to scheduling conflicts that arose when the film’s release moved to July of 2013.” Though we’ll still be able to hear some of his work, as he “has contributed several pieces of music to the production,” but it is the Oscar-winning Hans Zimmer who has come in to take over the full score.
The replacement is certainly fitting, after Zimmer worked with much of the creative team, including producer Jerry Bruckheimer, on the Pirates of the Caribbean series. It’s a bit odd that just a short bump back from the end of May to early July caused White to depart, but hopefully we’ll see him link up with another film soon. If you missed the new trailer for the Johnny Depp and Armier Hammer-led film, check it out here, as we await to hear what Zimmer creates.
Are you disappointed we (mostly) missing out on the sounds of White?
