Tom Clancy‘s Jack Ryan is about to get the reboot treatment at Paramount and now Vulture is reporting that Lost executive producer and director of 36 episodes, Jack Bender, is “a cat’s breath away” from getting the Moscow directing gig.

Star Trek star Chris Pine will star as “fresh-from-the-Marines Jack Ryan who goes to work as an analyst for a Russian billionaire, but winds up on the run after being implicated in a terrorist plot.”

Bender, while has done great work on Lost, Alias and Felicity with Bad Robot, has not had much feature experience. It’s been almost 20 years since he directed Child’s Play 3.

I’ve really admired Bender’s work on Lost. He, along with the crew, was able to create quite a cinematic experience for a TV show. I’m especially excited for Chris Pine to portray Jack Ryan. He was great in Star Trek and deserves more feature roles.

Do you think Bender would be a good fit for Moscow?
