Mr. Ford told BBC that he, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas have agreed on a “germ of an idea” for the fifth installment of the series. [via MovieWeb]

Here’s what Ford had to say:

“The process works like this,” he said. “We come to some basic agreement and then George goes away for a long time and works on it.

“Then Steven and I get it in some form, some embryonic form.

“Then if we like it we start working with George on it and at some point down the line it’s ready and we do it.”

Since Kingdom of the Crystal Skull‘s release, it’s received a healthy amount of backlash, primarily among fans, for its over-the-top moments (“nuke the fridge”) and introduction of a certain element into the plotline that many describe just too alien (chuckle).

Despite all of this, the film performed well both financially and critically. It seems nostalgia blind facts of the past trilogy, which was just as ridiculous, from magic stones to plane-to-ground plummets stymied by an inflatable raft. Nuke the fridge? Give me a break.

The fourth film delivered on the tone and adventure of the first trilogy in nearly every way, a sequel on par with Temple of Doom but not quite as fantastic as Last Crusade. Ford proved he still has that Indy glint in his eye and smirk on his face, and Shia LeBeouf proved all his critics wrong.

A fifth Indy Jones? Yes please, and as soon as possible. But will cynicism continue to harden peoples’ heart and cool their love of a hopeful hero?

How do you feel about as fifth Indy film? Too much? Not enough?
