Coming Soon has reported that Ryan Gosling will star alongside Steve Carell in an upcoming Warner Bros comedy, directed by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, the team behind I Love You Phillip Morris. The script was written by Dan Fogelman, who also penned Cars and Bolt. Carell is set to produce with Denise Di Novi, while Charlie Hartsock and Vance DeGeneres plan to executive produce.
Carell‘s character, as reported, will be a man trying to manage his relationships with his children as he suffers through a marital crisis. Gosling will play a close friend to Carell.
The talented Gosling has also appeared in one of this year’s Sundance favorites, Blue Valentine, and has Andrew Jarecki‘s mystery All Good Things in the can, which has an all-star cast lined up that includes the likes of Frank Langella, Kirsten Dunst, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan among others.
Gosling’s history of rich dramatic films makes this choice an interesting one. Do you think he has the comedic touch for a role like this?
