We’ve all touched one or played a videogame based on them, many have even made parody videos featuring them, but now one studio is attempting to bring them to the big screen. That’s right, Warner Bros. has been hard at work creating an official, feature-length film titled The LEGO Movie. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the talented duo behind 21 Jump Street and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, our first trailer has landed today.
Right off the bat, I love how they are still keeping true to the mechanics and style of the famous toys, yet bringing a whole new visual style to the playing field. Featuring the voices of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Morgan Freeman, Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Nick Offerman and Alison Brie, it’s also the only film where we’ll see Batman, TMNT, NBA stars and many, many more characters together.
The story follows Emmet, an average LEGO guy who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared. Set to land early next year, could it be the first big hit of 2014? Check it out below, along with the first theatrical poster.
The LEGO Movie lands on February 7th, 2014.
