After being in-the-works for years and years, it’s hard to believe that director George Miller has finally finished production on his first Mad Max film in over a quarter of a century, Mad Max: Fury Road. Shot over a six-month period Namibia and South Africa, Mel Gibson is out as our title character, with The Dark Knight Rises and Bronson‘s Tom Hardy coming into to take the lead and today we’ve finally got the first look at him.
Coming from Tumblr, the photo, which is seemingly captured from a fan, sees a fitting Hardy in a rugged state walking across the Wasteland. Miller’s film will follow him as he get caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron). It provides an account of the Road War that follows and the eyewitness accounts of those who survived. Check it out below for the film that also stars Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and more.
Expect a summer 2014 release for Mad Max: Fury Road.
What do you think of Hardy in the role?
