No, this isn’t Looper, but The World’s End, the final film in Edgar Wright‘s Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, sees our main duo go back in time. The film follows Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and three more of their childhood friends who go on an epic pub crawl and as we can see in the first set photos, some flashbacks are in store.
With production kicking off in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, the first pics were snapped of our main players — but no look at co-stars Rosamund Pike and Paddy Considine yet. We are, however, given a glimpse a some younger actors playing these characters as teenagers. While not a whole lot can be gleaned from these, it’s wonderful to see Wright back behind the camera. Check out the official synopsis below, followed by the photos from Screen Crush and WHTimes:
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Pegg), a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
The World’s End lands in UK theaters next August, with hopefully a US release around the same time.
