He’s won major prizes at Berlin, Cannes, Venice, and more, but surprisingly, Fatih Akin hasn’t seemed to garner the wide-spread attention he deserves. After strong dramas such as Head-On and The Edge of Heaven, he’ll finally be returning this year with his next feature, The Cut. While he pulled the film from Cannes at the last minute, it now seems prime for fall festival debut and today the first look has arrived.
Featuring star Tahar Rahim (A Prophet, The Past), it comes from Revolver (via KeyFrame) and while plot details for the feature aren’t abundant, we do know a bit. Last year he said he cast Rahim for “his physical and interpretive abilities. He is perfect to develop this role, which is quite complex. On the one side, Tahar doesn’t say a word throughout the film and he is a bit like Charlie Chaplin, but at the same time, he is a typical western character, like Sergio Leone.” It sounds like something great to look forward to and one can check out the early poster below.
