He is leaving the island and heading into the extraterrestrial. Lost showrunner Damon Lindelof will be doing rewrites for 20th Century Fox on Ridley Scott‘s upcoming directing gig, the Alien prequel.

Deadline reports that the two met along with the studio which “sparked an idea” for a “free-standing science fiction film.” Lindelof is also keeping busy post-Lost as he is working on the Star Trek sequel with both Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who he also worked with for Jon Favreau‘s Cowboys and Aliens.

The original script for the prequel was from Jon Spaihts, “who wrote the Gabriele Muccino-directed Keanu Reeves-starrer Passengers.” Damon, a massive fan of Scott’s original jumped at the chance to rewrite. If you want more details on the project check out Screen Rant’s comprehensive write-up.

Should Ridley Scott take on another (and possible another) Alien prequel? Are you excited for a post-Lost Lindelof career?
