It wouldn’t be a Hollywood blockbuster without some last minute casting and so as Marc Webb continues production on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in New York, we’ve got one more addition to the ensemble. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony has found someone to fill the shoes of Norman Osborn, played by Willem Dafoe in Sam Raimi‘s version.
Chris Cooper has booked the part, but its not confirmed yet if he will turn to the dark side as Green Goblin for this upcoming sequel, or if he’ll wait until the third film. He’ll be joining Dane DeHaan, who plays his son, as well as Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Martin Sheen, Paul Giammatti, Felicity Jones and Colm Feore
Cooper will next be seen in the drama August: Osage County, out later this year and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Ewan McGregor, Abigail Breslin, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Juliette Lewis, Dermot Mulroney and Sam Shepard. Check out the official synopsis from the film below, along with the first photos of Woodley as Mary Jane Watson via Just Jared.
In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 2nd, 2014.
