Many newcomer directors deliver a much-buzzed festival hit, leading to a major follow-up and today we’ve got a perfect example of such an occurrence. Although his Sundance drama Children of Invention premiered back in 2009, director Tze Chun is now making his follow-up and Variety has news on the strong ensemble he’s gathered.
Leading the film, titled Eye of Winter and co-written by Chun, Osgood Perkins and Nick Simon, is none other than Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston. Although he had an insane workload in 2012 with feature film roles in John Carter, Red Tails, Rock of Ages, Argo, Total Recall and Madagascar 3, this will mark only one of two projects currently lined up for next year.
Joining Cranston in the project are Star Trek Into Darkness’ Alice Eve and Prometheus‘ Logan Marshall-Green, who fill out the story of a “struggling motel owner (Eve) who, along with her daughter, is taken hostage by a nearly blind career criminal (Cranston) to be his eyes as he attempts to retrieve his cash package from a crooked cop (Marshall-Green).” Cranston as a blind villain?
