Blade

Back in October, 2008 The Sunday Mail reported on a possible Blade prequel that would have Stephen Dorff reprising his role as Deacon Frost, who was the villain in the first film. Dorff stated that, “It will be a prequel to the Blade movies, Deacon’s story“, and he also that proclaimed that it would be the beginning of a new trilogy which would be helmed by the first film’s director Stephen Norrington. In a recent interview with Comics2Film, Norrington confirmed this and said that this idea sprung from Dorff and that the Blade character would still be involved.

I don’t dislike this idea at all because of Dorff, I may be in the minority of thinking this, but I think he is actually going to make a mild comeback with Sofia Coppola’s next film. Plus I enjoyed his role in Public Enemies despite it being a very minor appearance. The part that is most troublesome is that Stephen Norrington’s name would be on this. I still don’t trust Norrington as a filmmaker since the horror of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is still resting in my memory. Yes, he didn’t have full creative control on LXGbut he still deserves some of the blame for that abomination. He actually did make a fun action film with Blade, but that is the only noteworthy thing he has done. This really isn’t a terrible idea but nor is it good, but in the end I wouldn’t be the slightest surprised if this supposed trilogy never happens.
