With the year winding down, sitting atop my top films of 2012 thus far is the latest drama from Michael Haneke, Amour. Dealing with an elderly couple’s struggle, the impeccable film is the director’s most emotionally resonant story yet and one that I’d highly recommend to anyone (well, perhaps not the tween-and-under crowd). While we still have around a month to go until the release of the Palme d’Or-winner, Sony Pictures Classics have delivered a batch of new stills for the film featuring Jean-Louis Trintignant, Emmanuelle Riva, Isabelle Huppert as well as our director. Synopsis:
Georges and Anne are in their eighties. They are cultivated, retired music teachers. their daughter, who is also a musician, lives abroad with her family. One day, Anne has an attack. The couple’s bond of love is severely tested.
