The upcoming film, Babe In The Woods has finally got a director attached to it according to /Film. Ruben Fleischer, director of the very successful Zombieland, has signed on. Based on a screenplay by Mike White (School of Rock, Nacho Libre), the film is about a college student who ends up becoming a target of the New Jersey mafia.
Fleischer is currently working on 30 Minutes or Less which stars Danny McBride, Aziz Ansari and Zombieland star, Jesse Eisenberg. While I haven’t seen any of Fleischer’s previous work, I really enjoyed Zombieland, and if he brings that same style of filmmaking to Babe In The Woods, it could turn out to be a pretty good film.
Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures was quoted as saying:
“Our experience working with Ruben on ‘Zombieland’ was nothing short of amazing,” said Tolmach. “We love what Mike did with this script and could not be more thrilled to develop ‘Babe in the Woods’ with these two guys. They bring the perfect blend of comedy and attitude to their projects.”
I’m currently more excited for 30 Minutes or Less. McBride, Ansari and Eisenberg are going to make a very funny trio and with Fleischer behind the camera, I think it’s going to be a hit.
What do you guys think? Did you enjoy Zombieland?
